Back in the late 80s, and early 90s when gaming technology was starting to become more and more prevalent amongst the general public, simulation games were everywhere. Handheld devices like the Tamagotchi digital pets were on every kid's Christmas list and video games like Digimon World were bringing the concept to consoles. And then the new millennium hit, and one game blew the doors wide open for the genre: The Sims.

The Sims racked up sales at an incredible pace and proved that gamers loved that escapism of having that second life to go to, and simulation games truly took off. From similar games like Animal Crossing to that Facebook phenomenon Farmville that caused an endless amount of notifications, simulation games nearly took over the world.

Now with mobile gaming reaching the levels it has, it’s very easy to enjoy a bit of escapism. You walk through the door after a hard day's work, collapse on the couch and whip out your phone, and you can experience another world for a little bit before the real world comes knocking again. We all need a break, and the Apple Arcade has plenty of different lives to experience.
