As mobile gaming progresses, more and more titles are now compatible with a controller. There are plenty of excellent options, such as the Razer Kishi or GameSir X2 Type-C Controller. But if you're not in the market for a new controller, did you know you can pair your Xbox One controller with your phone?

It's probably not surprising if you're aware that you can enjoy Xbox Game Pass on your mobile, thanks to cloud gaming. But that doesn't mean the controller is limited to Microsoft games. Instead, any game with controller compatibility will work with the Xbox One controller, though you might have to tweak a few settings in certain games.

Connecting your Xbox controller to your iPhone or iPad

Pairing your Xbox controller with an iOS device is fairly straightforward. First, tap Settings and then Bluetooth. Ensure Bluetooth is switched on, and turn on your Xbox controller by holding the Xbox button.

If your controller is already paired with an Xbox console, you will need to hold down the Pair button, which is located on the back of the controller. The light will flash quickly to let you know you've done this part correctly.

Eventually, 'Xbox Wireless Controller' should appear on your iOS device. Simply tap it and then select 'Pair' when given the option. And that's it! You can now enjoy gaming on your iOS device with your Xbox controller. However, remember that not every game will be compatible with a controller.

Connecting your Xbox controller to an Android phone or tablet

As with iOS, it's a simple process to connect your Xbox controller to an Android phone or tablet. First up, swipe down from the top of the screen to access your notifications and settings. Next, long press the Bluetooth button to go to the pairing screen.

On your Xbox controller, hold down the Pair button and on your phone, tap 'Pair new device'. The Xbox controller will eventually appear on the list, and from there, you simply have to select it to pair the controller with your Android phone or tablet.
