Vegetables are important for a balanced diet, but they can have other roles as well. Following the adventure of Dadish, Thomas K. Young decided his story wasn't finished and brought the heroic veggie back for Dadish 2. In another attempt to make a mobile platformer, the sequel holds a lot of similarities to the previous entry while adding more challenges and new characters to meet. There's also a fair number of new elements to discover on this radish's journey.
The Story of Dadish 2 Continues

A simple 2D platformer can provide a lot of reasons to go on a colourful adventure which is what Dadish 2 provides. The dad radish returns and has moved up in the world, somehow earning an office job in an unnamed company. Believing that it's bring-your-kids-to-work-day, Dadish's kids arrive at the office and run amok as the titular character falls asleep at his desk. After waking up, he realises what has happened and sets off to find his kids once again. From the office to the far reaches of space, this is one dedicated father whose fate is in your hands, or more accurately, your fingertips.
Dadish 2 is more of the same good stuff

A platforming journey can be considered gaming in its purest form and Dadish 2 is pure in that sense. You're given access to the same simple controls that are usable at the very corners of the screen. The bottom left corner lets Dadish move left or right at a solid speed that works well for the pacing of the levels, even when things ramp up. The jumping and double-jumping return and is still as sharp and precise as ever. The sharpness of the controls allows for more precision-based segments that still feel possible.
Adding to this is the charming and friendly aesthetic. The clean pixel art highlights the colourful and cartoonish nature of the world and the whole story. Humour makes a subtle but amusing appearance in the dialogue exchanges between Dadish and the other characters.
The New Good of Dadish 2

With the tight and simple controls back in action, Dadish 2 opens the way for new level design and mechanics. There's a whole bunch of different environments introduced and providing platforms for thematic hazards and more enemy types. They include an office, a meadow, a swamp, an ancient temple, and a space station. You'll get to deal with new elements like quicksand, cannons, low gravity, and rolling boulders to change up the gameplay. There are also new enemies such as cupcakes that chase you, walking mustard turrets, and buckets of chicken tossing wings in arcs.
A big overhaul is how boss characters behave. Each boss has a more dynamic attack pattern and an arena that requires more navigation. Timing and movement play a much bigger role in defeating each boss and avoiding their attacks. On top of that, a boss from the previous game returns as an ally. This leads to a new kind of level that operates like an endless runner to change things up as you go through the levels.
Dadish 2 awaits you

Dadish 2 is a continuation of Thomas K. Young's quick and fun 2D platforming series following a radish's bizarre journey to save his kids. The controls are as nice as ever with brand-new level designs and assets to test them out on. There's greater variety in how the bosses act making them feel more distinct and like actual battles. Whether or not you like radishes, it's difficult not to like the world of Dadish.
